The controller is where the measuring points become a system: alarm thresholds, voting, relay outputs, the signal to the control room and the record of what happened. Honeywell's controller range covers installations from a single technical room to a distributed plant.
What it is
Purpose and use
Touchpoint Plus is an easily configurable wall mounted control system supporting up to 16 channels of gas detection. The 19-inch rack version supports up to 8 channels, with a further 8 channels through an optional rack unit. Touchpoint Pro offers the most flexible architecture in the range: configurations can be centralised or distributed, which is what makes it the choice for larger plants and for installations that are expected to grow.
At the smaller end, Unipoint is a DIN-rail mounted controller offering flexibility at low cost, and Polygard® 2 is a multi-gas controller for the detection of toxic, combustible or dangerous gases in commercial and industrial applications. Touchpoint™ Plus also gives visibility of BW™ RigRat area monitors and workers' personal detectors alongside the fixed installation.

How many channels should a new controller have?
More than today's measuring points, if the plant is likely to grow. Channel expansion in an existing controller is cheap; replacing a controller because it ran out of channels two years after commissioning is not. We size against the planned final state.
Can fixed and portable detection be seen in one place?
Yes. The Touchpoint™ Plus controller gives visibility of BW™ RigRat area monitors and personal detectors alongside the fixed installation, and Honeywell Safety Suite provides the same picture on the software side.
