What it is
Purpose and use
Sensepoint XCD is the transmitter and sensor combination for flammable, toxic and oxygen gases, with a tri-colour display that shows the status from a distance — a detail that matters on a walk-through inspection of a plant with fifty measuring points. The XCD RFD version is a flammable gas transmitter for directly or remotely mounted sensors; the XCD RTD version covers directly or remotely mounted toxic and oxygen sensors.
Sensepoint XCL is a fixed point gas leak detector designed for commercial and light industrial applications. Sensepoint XRL adds Bluetooth®, so the detector can be configured from a smartphone or tablet running the Sensepoint gas detector app. For areas with an existing intrinsically safe loop, the Series 3000 MkII and MkIII are two-wire, loop powered, intrinsically safe toxic and oxygen gas detectors for potentially explosive atmospheres. A high temperature sensor version covers combustible gases in high temperature areas.

What does a remotely mounted sensor solve?
Access. Where the gas has to be measured is frequently not where a technician can safely reach with test gas — under a roof, in a duct, above a reactor. A remote sensor lets the measuring point sit where the gas is while the transmitter sits where it can be serviced.
Can we extend an existing intrinsically safe installation?
Usually yes. Series 3000 detectors are two-wire loop powered and intrinsically safe, which is what makes them the natural extension of an existing IS loop. The limits are the loop's power budget and the barrier arrangement, which we check before quoting.
